Rush Limbaugh and American Institutions
On one of his recent radio programs, Rush Limbaugh was asked to describe his thoughts on the “after-life” and such. Limbaugh has frequently told his audience that he views his job on the radio as to defend the “institutions” that have made America what it is. As a long-time listener, I have heard many such expressions from him, and I know with certainty that among the institutions he speaks of is Christianity.
Not just that, but Rush has said on many occasions that he believes we were created. Not evolved, but created— distinct from the animals. Because his radio audience reaches a broad spectrum of listeners, he restrains himself from turning his program into a theological discussion on matters of evolution and creation and salvation, but in his observation and commentary on American political issues, he is among the most vocal defenders of Christianity.
If only pastors were as confident of their roles in persuading their congregations to defend America by insisting on the indispensable support of Christianity in matters of public policy.
If only.
